Unlike the previous post for the OS X Color Picker, this little application doesn’t require as much work to set-up, but has less features. But what it does, it does well! Pipette is a handy utility for digital artists and web designers. It allows you to quickly and easily grab the colour of any pixel on the screen and copy it in hex format, as used in CSS files, or in paint programs, such as Adobe Photoshop. and oh yeah, it’s FREE!

OS X’s built-in color picker is a nice way to choose colors within the applications that use it. Not all applications use it… but wouldn’t it be nice to access it anytime? This would be really helpful when doing web development and are only using a text editor for style sheets (CSS). I don’t know how many times I had to open up PS just to get the darn hex code.
